Driving home after a busy day shopping, I decide to treat myself. Then, at 38, I discovered Sominex sleeping pills after reading about them in a women’s magazine. I wasn’t especially anxious: other girls at my college took sleeping pills during exams because of stress, and I thought how lucky I was that I’d never needed them. He told me that if I was sleeping that badly, I’d probably need to take sleeping pills all my life. He said ‘Sometimes we can put ideas into our own heads, can’t we, Margaret?’ and prescribed Temazepam, one of the most widely used sleeping pills available.
